Mountain Rescue Visit
WO J WrightJune 2023Cadets from the Squadron have enjoyed getting hands on with a mountain rescue Bell stretcher during a visit by the Bowland and Pennine Mountain Rescue Team.
1301 (Fleetwood) Squadron joined us for the night which included a short brief about the role of the team and how a 'call out' would be managed by the team.
Cadets were able to get their hands on the equipment and better understand what it would mean to be a member of the volunteer mountain rescue team.
The highlight of the evening was the stretcher carry. Sgt Hardman was strapped tightly into the Bell stretcher and then carried across the field, including over and under obstacles. The team simulated various scenarios which slowly increased the pressure on the Cadets.
The annual visit by BPMRT has become a highlight for the Cadets. We'd like to thank Graham and Kev from BPMRT for giving their time. If anyone would like to learn more about the team have a look at their website.
